Quebec, Canada, January 17, 2012 – Spatialytics, a software company in Spatial Data Integration (ETL) and GeoBI, is pleased to welcome Frederic Berger in his team as Director of Sales and Channel Management . Mr. Berger has nearly twenty years of experience in the commercialization of software solutions for the enterprise and the public sector. Mr. Berger spent specifically six years in supporting various organizations in the adoption of Enterprise Geospatial Solutions (Spatial DBMS and Web mapping) to complement and upgrade their technology infrastructure (CRM, ERP, remote monitoring, geo-marketing, call center. ..). The Spatialytics offering is unique in its ability to enhance Geospatial systems by integrating powerful BI concepts like analytics (OLAP multidimensional query language MDX) and visualization through the use of dashboards and reports. Conversely, Spatialytics GeoBI incorporates in conventional BI the ubiquitous relationship between the data and geography (address, city, address …), allowing spatial analysis and visualization of data through thematic mapping.

Spatialytics has been the first partner in the growing network of OpenGeo Partners, back in June 2010! We will always remember those welcoming words by Paul Ramsey, on OpenGeo’s blog : Not as exciting as our first kiss, but still pretty exciting: our first OpenGeo re-seller is Spatialytics in Quebec. Anyway, we are pretty excited too by this partnership and their first Global Partner Network meeting in Denver, the day before FOSS4G begins. Spatialytics and OpenGeo Spatialytics is a reseller of the OpenGeo Suite – Enterprise Edition in the province of Quebec. Spatialytics have a deep knowledge of the software/technologies composing the Suite : PostGIS is our Spatial DBMS/Data warehouse of choice for our SOLAP Server GeoMondrian; PostGIS is very well supported (Input / output) by our Spatial ETL GeoKettle; OpenLayers and GeoExt are used as geo-centric libraries in SOLAPLayers & GeoBIExt. At Spatialytics, we mainly develop in Java on the server-side and in Javascript

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is an international industry consortium of companies, government agencies and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available interface standards. The OGC now counts 424 members, where half are companies and about 40% is from North America. OGC standards support interoperable solutions that “geo-enable” the Web, wireless and location-based services and mainstream IT. The most well-known and used standards are certainly the WMS (Web Map Service) and WFS (Web Feature Service), while we note the rise, for example, the WPS (Web Processing Service) and the widespread use of KML (originating from Google) … The main reason for Spatialytics to join the OGC is to leverage its expertise and participate with the organization and some members in efforts related to GeoBI. More details on that to come.

But for the market of the Province of Québec, via partnerships, Spatialytics also offers BI and Geospatial solutions. We are announcing a new partnership in Geospatial with GeoCat BV, a company based in the Netherlands, well-known for its work around GeoNetwork, an Open Source catalog application to manage spatially referenced resources & metadata. More recently, GeoCat launched a unique product, GeoCat Bridge, establishing literally a « bridge » between GIS professionals and some Open Source web solutions. This is actually a module or extension for the ArcGIS desktop softwares from the Esri, which allows the publication of data and their metadata. The data become available, with their original style & symbology, in the web-mapping server GeoServer, part of the OpenGeo Suite – Enterprise Edition (a commercial Open Source edition), which is also a solution Spatialytics resells.
