Luc Vaillancourt founded BALIZ Inc. in 2007, a consulting firm helping organisations to maximize their usage of geospatial technologies and insights obtained from geographic information. BALIZ is now dedicated on publishing BALIZ-MEDIA.com, a French speaking online magazine and a news & blog aggregator covering the Geospatial industry.

Luc Vaillancourt founded KOREM Inc. in 1993 and led the growth of this company in the Geospatial industry until 2005. A very tight collaboration with MapInfo Corporation now part of Pitney Bowes Business Insight has been a big part of the growth and the success of the company as well as a solid learning experience for Mr. Vaillancourt.

Luc Vaillancourt obtained a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Université Laval (Québec, QC, Canada) in 1993 and specialized himself in geographic information processing and representation. He also achieved successfully all the credits (courses and research) to obtain a Master’s degree in Spatial Analysis and Geostatistics. But enthusiastic and busy with his newly founded company, he never submitted his master’s thesis !

Involved in the local business community, Mr. Vaillancourt is the President of the VETIQ, a dynamic association of IT entrepreneurs in the Quebec City region.

And last but not least, Luc Vaillancourt lives with his spouse and two young daughters (5 and 8 years old). During his free time, he is a dirt-bike (enduro/cross-country) fan and rides a Husaberg Fe-390 2010 bike.
